Local Cloth Waterline Project

The details of the Post-Helene member project I have captured from an email to members. See photos below! Our Handwork Circle at Local Cloth (localcloth.org) decided to approach this as a group; we discussed it today at the online zoom get together. We volunteered several approaches and came up with using felt. Several of us have nice collections of felt in different colors. At the bottom of each 2” X 6” piece, we felt that browns would be very relevant for the project. The water that filled our studio in the wake of the hurricane Helene was filled with brown sludge from the bottom of the French Broad River. Above the sludge water color in our pieces, however, objects with color including flowers and other sites along Depot Street might provide a brighter aspect mirroring our recovery! That’s where we are thus far.

The pieces must be delivered by September 1, 2026 and so that is our deadline. Since it is a group project we want to link our 2” X 6” pieces together in a chain and submit it that way. There are two ways to submit, enter it in the Waterline project book in LC’s cozy corner (I haven’t noticed that yet) or submit online: https://form.jotform.com/260934005962053
